Dead Among Us

This game came across my screen this week and I had to check it out.

Dead Among Us
This iOS game is pretty easy to play and to my surprise, is entirely in portrait mode. Most games I’ve played are in landscape mode but as this is really an archery game it makes a lot of sense.

Dead Among Us

The Premise:
You’re an archer shooting zombies.
C’mon, you know by know how this is going to go. You are a survivor in the zombie apocalypse and it’s up to you to kill a lot of zombies to save your friends and yadda, yadda, yadda.

The Gameplay:
It’s a pretty easy game to play, just aim your bow and shoot. You have a chance to upgrade your weapons based on your success as a zombie killer where you earn money to get better bows, bowstrings, sites etc.

The logic of this is of course in the gameplay element. After all it’s likely the monetary system and the sporting goods industry have likely collapsed in the post apocalyptic age.

Why an archer?
Why not? Archery is kind of a hot item these days. With the massive appeal of Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead and his crossbow as well as The Hunger Games and their use of archery there plus the obvious logic that it’s a LOT easier to make arrows than bullets. In a post apocalyptic world the production of munitions isn’t exactly the easiest thing ever.

Should I get the game?
It’s free. (At least at the time of writing this.) So why not? If it’s awesome, great. If it sucks, so what? It was free. So it’s basically a win-win situation.
