Zombillies are a fun type of zombie that you’ll find in the Rockabilly world. A great movie for examples of Rockabillies is Fido. I’ve actually already blogged about one particular zombilly, Tammy. Not only a sexy zombilly chick from the movie Fido but also a Lolitaesque love-slave zombie. (More on Tammy here.)Tammy
The 1950’s are a great wealth of pop-culture. All the social revolution that burst forth in the sixties grew directly out of the experienced of the 1950’s. The post-WWII era saw a boom in all areas of pop culture with music, furniture, clothing and so on bursting forth. More than anything else what probably defines the 50’s for many people is the music. The birth of rock and roll, coming out of the fusion of African rhythm and Irish skiffle music lead to a truly original American musical style we can see coming to the fore in the 3o’s in people like Woodie Guthrie and Leadbelly.

Ok, this isn’t a music history lesson. The bottom line is rock is amazing. It’s been decades, and it’s remained a constant cultural force globally. Those who love it, love it all and especially it’s roots. And hey, you know what else has been a constant cultural element? Zombies. Yup. Unfortunately these two, once countercultural icons are now sadly the mainstay of our lives and do lack a bit of the freshness they used to possess. But hey. They still sort or rule. So shut up and and enjoy the images, because this week, is Zombilly week!
