Well the summer is getting a bit long in the tooth now that September is here. Where did this year go!?
I’ve taken a few weeks away from posting in order to work on a little project or two that needed my attention a bit more and didn’t allow time for my usual regular posts. I know, I know, “I don’t have time” is just an excuse. But I have a more-than-full-time job, an infant son, a heavy exercise schedule and my illustration projects so time isn’t really something I’m in the habit of wasting.
So what is this big mystery project I’ve been working on!?
Well about two years ago I took part in a group show in Ebisu, (here in Tokyo) as part of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators group. In the show I had three color pieces related to a story about zombies. I wasn’t totally happy with the artwork but kept at it and reworked it a bit and finally that book is just about ready to go!
No, in case you’re wondering I haven’t been working on it continuously for two years, I let the idea stew for well over a year, did the pencils and inks, and let them stew for a while before finally doing the color and jumping into it full force late last year. With a few distractions and other projects out of the way, (one of which being this zombie blog,) I’m now pretty happy with the artwork and the flow of the book.
So today I’m releasing this little teaser for the book’s artwork just to say hey, and to let you know, the zombies are coming!
