Though this is a blog about zombies, I thought it would be good to take a quick look at some other creatures similar to zombies this week in celebration of the undead.

This post sort of groups together the various Hollywood heavies who just don’t seem to die yet come back again and again. They aren’t zombies, yet they are neither alive nor dead either. In the case of these horrors, they are simply the product of Hollywood wanting to spin off sequel after sequel for our enjoyment.

There are lots of these guys out there but I went with the top three, Freddy, Jason, and Michael. All of whom started out as pretty rotten human beings but after death came back as even more horrible maniac killers. Though dead and walking they differ from zombies in that they wish to kill with no need to consume. Freddy gets off on torturing kids through their dreams, Jason terrorizes teenagers in a silent manner that seems to defy logic and emotion as does Michael. Though explanations have been given for who and why they kill and why they are able to keep coming back, these reasons seem to get more obscure and flimsy as time goes by.

To sum them all up, they are humans, possessed or empowered by evil to kill the young. In some cases they are granted revenge but in others they are simply willing to kill. They can be destroyed utterly and still come back so long as some demonic evil grants them the chance to do so.

And silly as they are, they are also a hell of a lot of fun.
